Mercurius Goldstein makes sure that there really is a market for what we’re building and furnishes us with lots of Forrester-endorsed stats to prove it.
He is also directly responsible for getting Sara her celebrity status in Australia: his PR talents got her previous site The Bargain Queens on the radio, in the papers and in a magazine, plus she was a semi-regular guest on a top current affairs show for a while.
Background and qualifications
An accredited teacher of ESL and Japanese language, Merc holds the 4-year Bachelor of Education with 1st Class Honors from The University of Sydney (a world top-50 university according to the Times Higher Education Supplement). He is a recipient of the 2007 Outstanding Graduate Award from the Australian College of Educators.
Previously, Merc worked for 14 years as a Strategic Planner in marketing and advertising, for some of the world’s biggest brands including Canon, Sony, Dell, Sun Microsystems, The Salvation Army, Greenpeace and Medicins Sans Frontieres.
Quirky but true
Merc is married to Sara, and is hence the best marketing talent no money can buy. He offered to help out to be a good husband, but ended up getting way more than he bargained for.
Merc has also had a high profile in the Australian media, where he regularly comments on issues regarding education and the portrayal of teachers in the media. Until moving to the U.S.A. with his wife, he was the only person under 60 who contributed regularly to the ‘letters to the editor’ page; he has also been known to heckle the former education minister on national TV. In Australian slang, Mr Goldstein is a “stirrer”.
